1 Consumable Charge

With the shortfall in government funding for the 15 / 30 hrs. funding for term time early education, settings are left with a gap between what sessions cost to deliver and the money received to deliver care and education. Therefore, we are advised by the Department for Education to add consumable charges for anything that is offered above the care element of childcare.  You do have the option to opt out of consumable charges, however, if you do opt out, you will be required to supply the list below on a weekly basis or when required.

Consumable charge is inclusive of:

Nursery government subsidised funded hours (15 or 30 hrs.) are to cover the Care and Education part of childcare. The consumable charge is a voluntary payment and you do have the choice to supply all the list below if you would like to opt out of paying the consumable fee.

  • Breakfast cereal
  • Toast
  • Fruit at snack time
  • Lunch – including pudding and juice.
  • Outdoor suits
  • Welly boots
  • Forest School sessions (Supervised by a fully qualified instructor)
  • Sun cream
  • Nappies
  • Wipes
  • All open events and garden parties can be paid for on a one off basis.
  • A printout of your child’s learning journey
  • Laundry service
  • Weekly activities
  • Family App

This is not a fully inclusive list.

If you wish to opt out of paying a consumable charge you will have to supply the above weekly (when required) and pay for any extra chargeable concessions during each half term.
